Retrospective: Francesca Woodman, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, 1071 Fifth Avenue, opening March 16.

The most comprehensive exhibition of Francesca Woodman’s work since her early death in 1981 opens Friday, March 16th at the Guggenheim Museum.  The retrospective surveys her eerie and poetic self-portraits and interiors through more than 120 prints and a selection of artist books.

Solo Exhibition: Mark Ruwedel: Records, Yossi Milo Gallery, 245 Tenth Avenue, through April 7.

Mark Ruwedel’s exhibition of stark black and white photographs, Records, document abandoned homes, desert regions and relics of human presence primarily in the American West. His iconic images speak to the desolate reality of failed dreams and the violent beauty of the western landscape. The exhibition is on view at Yossi Milo Gallery’s new location on Tenth Avenue in Chelsea.

Guest curated by Elizabeth Saperstein, Horizon Variations at the CCNY brings four artists to the CCNY whose conceptual photographs consider the impact of decay, disaster and discovery on the natural environment. The exhibition includes work by Heather Rasmussen, Esther Choi, Cecilia Schmidt and Inga Dorosz.
