On Sunday, July 15, 2012, some 500 members of the New Jersey and New York communities gathered at Mana Contemporary Arts Center to view The Originals, a public showing of our first resident artists.

Founding Artists at Mana Contemporary Art Center

The Originals, or founding artists, include: Lili Almog, Doug Argue, Tarra Bandet, Trudy Benson, Sean Blocklin, Jessica Browne-White, Stanley Casselman, Bradley Eshram, Carole Feuerman, Frank Gavere, Mary Hagerty, Min Hyung, Seo Jo, Chuck Kelton, Craig Krucia, Min Kyung Jo, Eugene Lemay, Yuri Makoveychuk, Virginia Martinsen, Gerald Mocarsky, Yigal Ozeri, Iris Kufert-Rivo, Ernestein Ruben, Leslie Sheryll, Barnett Suskind, Jon Tsoi, Peter White, and Michael Zansky.

Exhibit Curated by the Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation
The artist’s curated works, including works in process, were displayed on Mana Contemporary’s 6th floor which is home to the Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to make art more accessible through out the world.

Blindfolded Performance by Jon Tsoi

At one point, Jon Tsoi, Mana Contemporary Art Center’s newest artist in residence, intrigued attendees with a live performance in which he painted wearing a blindfold. Tsoi’s technique creates art through the inner spirit (Yin), which in turn can be absorbed through the eyes (Yang). Tsoi sees art as medicine and believes we can all benefit from the mystery of art, balancing ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually.

If you attended The Originals, which work(s) did you find interesting?
