Encaustic and pigment stick demonstration led by Leslie Giuliani

R&F Handmade Paint Instructor Leslie Giuliani will lead a demonstration and mini-workshop of encaustic technique and pigment sticks. This event will be open only to artists with studios at Mana Contemporary.

Encaustic paint is a very versatile medium. It acts as a colored paint, an adhesive, and a preservative.
It is painted while in a hot, melted form. Depending upon the heat used in the final fusing process, a variety of surface textures are achieved. The hardened wax can be carved like wood, and objects can
be embedded in the paint, providing the opportunity to use a variety of materials in each painting.

Pigment sticks are oil paint in stick form, with a touch of wax added. They can be used on palettes like tube oils, used directly to draw, and be set with heat. They are also great for printmaking.

Demonstration participants will be able to experiment with both media over this two-hour workshop. Class size limited to the first 10 RSVPs. RSVP to talks@manacontemporary.com to reserve your spot.
