Jakob Kudsk Steensen

Jakob Kudsk Steensen is a Danish artist and art director based in New York who specializes in real-time simulations of ecosystems exhibited as video installations and VR, created with the aim of generating new types of ecological awareness.

Steensen has recently exhibited at Jepson Center for the Arts, Time Square for the Midnight Moment, Carnegie Museum of Art, the Moving Image Fair (NYC), and others. His work has been featured in Mousse magazine, artnet, the Art Newspaper, Hyperallergic, Vice, the New York Times, and others. He has received awards from the Danish Arts Foundation, Augustinus Foundation, and the Lumen Arts Prize.

Steensen is currently a member of NEW INC, and has been an artist-in-residence at Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, AADK, Centra Negra, MASS MoCA, BRIC, and Mana Contemporary.
