Jasmine Hsu is a Taiwanese-born American artist and photographer who earned an MFA from SCAD Savannah College of Art. Drawing on personal experience, she makes abstract mixed-media paintings that explore her two cultures’ differences and similarities. Hsu combines elements of Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, and color field painting in large panels distinguished by areas of bright color overlaid with mineral pigmentation. These works have a geological aspect, featuring layers of paint that have been sanded and cut into.
Hsu’s photography clients include the New York Times, London Times, and Guardian Magazine. In 2018, she was the subject of a solo exhibition at Silverman Hamilton Square, Jersey City, and a group exhibition at the Woman Made Gallery, Chicago.
