Kumi Yamashita

Born in Japan, artist Kumi Yamashita studied at the Cornish College of the Arts and earned her MFA from the Glasgow School of Art. Her work spans drawing, painting, textiles, and sculpture—various mediums through which she makes realistic portraits or striking installations. Yamashita’s work has been exhibited at the Boise Art Museum, New Mexico History Museum, Microsoft Art Collection, and the Hamada Children’s Museum of Art, among others. She is the recipient of grants from The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, as well as a King County Art Commission Special Project Grant.
