Lili Almog

Israeli-born photographer Lili Almog is known for her intimate, spiritual portraits of female cultural identities. Almog moved to New York City in the mid-1980s and began a career as a photojournalist focused primarily on fashion and portraiture, where she developed an interest in creating representations of the feminine body and psyche. Today, her work explores on environmental portraiture an experimental direction that portrays social behavior through engagement with landscape. Almog's work is part of the permanent collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Milwaukee Art Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, and many others.
