Monroe Hodder

Monroe Hodder studied at Vassar College and holds an MBA from Stanford University and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, where she assisted artists Manuel Neri and Robert Colescott. Associated with the Bay Area Figurative Movement, Hodder’s work juxtaposes geometric forms with colorful abstractions inspired by personal experience. Her paintings are part of the permanent collections of the Portland Museum of Art, Denver Contemporary Art Museum, San Jose Art Museum, and the Palo Alto Art Center, among others. She has been invited to be a Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome on three occasions.
