Shelter Serra

California native Shelter Serra studied studio art at the University of California, Santa Cruz and received his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. He uses a variety of media to interpret cultural status symbols and their meaning; he has re-imagined objects including the Birkin Bag, the Rolex Mariner, and the H2 Hummer. Serra, who is related to minimalist master Richard Serra, has collaborated with the Art Production Fund, Helmut Lang, Converse, and Chanel. His work has been exhibited internationally from New York to Tokyo.
