Virtuoso Transcriptions

 

Russian pianist-composer Vyacheslav Gryaznov will close the first season of Pegasus at Mana: Piano
Series with a virtuosic tour de force. First, he will perform his own transcriptions of beloved works by Russian composers Borodin, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and the spiritual father of them all, Mikhail Glinka. Then, Mr. Gryaznov will perform his own combination of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s two
versions of Sonata No. 2.

Vyacheslav Gryaznov
Vyacheslav Gryaznov graduated with honors from the Central Music School of the Moscow State Conservatory (under Professor Manana Kandelaki) and then at the Moscow Conservatory (class of Professor Yuri Slesarev). He continued at the Moscow Conservatory as a post-graduate student, and is on the teaching faculty of the Moscow Conservatory’s Piano Department. In 2016 he started the Artist Diploma program at the Yale School of Music, under Professor Boris Berman.

Vyacheslav Gryaznov is a member of the Moscow Philharmonic Society, which represents him in Russia, and is an artist in residence with the Drozdoff Society in the United States.

A prize-winner of international competitions in Italy, Ukraine, Denmark, Georgia, Japan, and Russia (including six first and grand prizes) and a frequent guest at international festivals, the pianist has toured in many countries of Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Africa, Japan, the United States, and throughout Russia.

Gryaznov’s recent and upcoming performances include solo recitals at Berliner Philharmonie and Carnegie Hall as winner of the 2016 New York Concert Artists Worldwide Debut Audition; the Bay Area Steinway Society of San Jose, California; as soloist with the Atlantic Classical Orchestra in a multi-city Florida tour, with the Moscow Philharmonic in Russia, with RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in Dublin, Ireland; and solo recitals in the United States, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Austria, Bulgaria, France, and Mexico.

Vyacheslav Gryaznov is the author of more than thirty concert arrangements and transcriptions, and has gained a reputation as one of the most remarkable young arrangers working today. In 2014 he signed a publishing contract with Schott Music (Germany).
