CHiKA is an artist whose practice reveals the combined influences of her professional experience as a graphic designer, and as an artist working within New York’s underground audiovisual scene. Her symphonic “optical performances” are fully interactive experiences in which visual sensors are used to combine sound with geometric patterns of light. CHiKA’s work has been seen internationally, including at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Hammer Museum, San Francisco; Museo Regional de Guadalajara; and Matadero Madrid. CHiKA has undertaken residencies with organizations including, in New York, Eyebeam, the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University, and the AIM program at the Bronx Museum of Art.
