Exhibitions on view
Amy Khoshbin: The Myth of Layla
BSMT Exhibition Space
Closing on November 12, BSMT Resident Amy Khoshbin will present a five-channel video installation of The Myth of Layla, shot over the course of three reality show-style live performances that took place at Mana Contemporary on September 25, October 8, and October 15, 2016. The final video installation piece will immerse viewers in the world of the reality show, Activists in Sexy Solidarity, which is set in a not-too-distant future where a big-brother media conglomerate called The Network runs the US government and is at war with a fictionalized Middle Eastern country akin to Iran.
Apostrophe NYC’s Base 12 Pop-Up Exhibition
BSMT South Side
For November 12, Apostrophe NYC’s Base 12 will exhibit a group show that explores the experience of viewing through a specific vantage and scale. The artists have created 3 x 4 inch pieces that hang at 10 feet, making their works illegible from inside the gallery. Outside the space is a viewing area with multiple sets of binoculars. Through these binoculars, the works can be seen “up close” through a controlled setting, allowing the visitors to visually enter the space and experience an intimate observation of each piece.

Matthias studied Graphic Design at SCAD Atlanta and currently resides in Jersey City, NJ.
Sam Cannon
Sam Cannon is an artist and director based in NYC. Her personal work focuses on the manipulation of time, space, and the female form. Living somewhere between still photography and video, her images explore the way we interact with never-ending moments in the age of the 15 second clip.
Thoka Maer
Thoka Maer is an artist who illustrates and creates animated illustrations. Her work runs the gamut from the figurative/narrative to the abstract/surreal, held together by the consistent use of pencil and crayon. She is currently based in New York.
